The Couture Firm is presenting Lavish Friday’s at Gordon’s Lounge on Maryland Avenue starting at 7pm. Each week they have a special guest DJ and drink specials. Gordon’s Lounge has something special Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That’s really Living for the Weekend.
“All of the animals except for man know that the principle business of life is to enjoy it…” - Samuel Butler
Thursday is fast becoming the beginning of the weekend and Pur was a perfect place to get the weekend started. Serving complimentary food with incredible drink prices during happy hour, Harold formerly of Eden’s Lounge is now at Pur serving drinks with a smile.
This weekend the FRIDAY NIGHT BUNCH will be “Dancing to the Ceiling” in the “Wee Hours of the Morning.” If “I See Your Face before Me” I ‘ll know that you are “digging the scene with your gangsta lean.” So, “Pull Up to the Bumper” and have a “Funky Good Time.”
“Peace can only last where human rights are respected, and where individuals and nations are free.” Dalai Lama 1975. Vietnam was on the lips and mind of every American. It was a time of war and hurt, so imagine my disbelief that is has now become one of the hottest tourist attractions. Sandra Spence said it was breathtaking with beautiful beaches and scenery. This week, my grandsons Gregory and Matthew along with their parents Lisa & Greg, are there for spring break.
On April 4, 1968 word quickly spread that [THE KING OF LOVE IS DEAD] (Nina Simone). [THE KING IS DEAD; THE KING IS DEAD; THEY KILLED OUR KING.] It was 40 years ago and sometimes it feels like YESTERDAY (Beatles).
Top of the day my lassies, laddies, friends and fans! I have so much to tell you. I have had a very busy week and a lot more to come. I had a wonderful time at [Shorty Buise’s reception] he gave at the [Sportsmen’s Lounge.] I saw so many people, I haven’t seen in years. It was almost as nice as his [“Pennsylvania Avenue Reunion”] he gives every year with his partner, [Queen]. I haven’t seen the [Sportsmen’s Lounge] that packed in years. I have no idea who was playing the music, but they must have dug awful deep in the bag to come up with some dynamite oldies.
The Ides of March was upon us on March 17 when I was kidnapped by the Leprechauns (Dawn and Tom Rini). What fun we had as we toured the taverns of Fells Point, starting at The Cat’s Eye Pub. We took a break for lunch at my good friend Andy Rosenthal’s restaurant Shucker’s at the foot of Broadway for the best crab dip and wings. Later, we moved on to Patrick’s in Locust Point then back to Fell’s Point.
