NAACP Sets Social Justice Agenda

CINCINNATI – Behind the speeches, appearances by presidential candidates,  celebrity appearances, concerts and receptions, 1,300 delegates are busy conducting the business of the NAACP.

“The part of the agenda that people see is the entertainment and other political and social events,” said Richard McIntire, NAACP spokesman. “But there are legislative sessions and other sessions where policy and marching orders for the following year are set.”  For the full story...

NAACP Basks in Obama’s Tough Love

CINCINNATI (July 14) – It was a gutsy—some might argue calculated—move, but somehow Sen. Barack Obama pulled it off.
After the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a respected member of the old civil rights guard, was recorded criticizing Obama’s speeches about personal and community responsibility among African Americans, the presidential hopeful threw down the gauntlet before a gathering of the oldest civil rights organization in the country.
