(May 2, 2009) - Reginald M. Bondurant, Jr. died on March 3, 2009 in Silver Spring, MD after a long illness. He was born August 2, 1927 in Lynchburg, VA. He was the second oldest of four children. He graduated from Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, VA in 1945 and from Howard University in 1951. He lived in Washington, DC and married Hortencia Smith in 1951 and they later divorced. He worked in the Department of Defense as a Management Analyst and retired after thirty years of service in 1985.
He was a member of Peoples Congregational Church, member of the Chancel Choir, the Men’s Chorus, UDC Jazz Band, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and served in the Air Force. He was an avid musician and played with the Takoma Park Band for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reginald M. Bondurant, Sr. and Bessie Bondurant; and sisters, Lillian Davis (Vernon) and Patricia Williams (Obadiah), all of Lynchburg, VA. He is survived by his daughter Maria Tina Reynolds (Tyrone) and two granddaughters, Tiffany and Tyese Reynolds; one brother, Frank A. Bondurant, Sr. (Dolores). He is also survived by two nieces, four nephews and many relatives and friends.
