(October 31, 2009) - Connecticut police have charged three men in connection with the murder of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard, according to The Associated Press.
According to the AP, 21-year-old John Lomax III was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault on Oct. 27 for the fatal stabbing of Howard earlier in October. Lomax’s bail was set at $2 million.
Howard, a cornerback on the football team, was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at a UConn student dance on campus on Oct. 18, police said. He died later at a hospital in Hartford.
Hakim Muhammad, 20, was also charged with conspiracy to commit assault, while 21-year-old Jamal Todd was charged with a felony count of false reporting and a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment for pulling a fire alarm during the fight, the AP reported.
Muhammad’s bail was set at $750,000, while Todd was released on $5,000 bond.
