(October 30, 2009) - Agent Zero is back with a vengeance.

After nearly three years of on and off appearances, Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas was back to his normal explosive self in the Wizards season opener against the Dallas Mavericks.

Arenas had 29 points and 9 assists in the 102-91 victory on Oct. 27.

After playing just 15 games in the last two seasons due to knee injuries, Arenas looked more than healthy against the Mavericks, making tough shots, nifty passes and fade away jumpers.

He wasn’t alone in his standout performance as newly acquired combo, guard Randy Foye and Andray Blatche combined for 39 points off the bench.

Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 34 points but did not receive much help from his teammates.

The rest of the Mavericks shot a combined 2-13 from the three point line and the team shot under 40 percent for the game.

Standout Performers:

Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas led his team with 29 points and 9 assists, while teammate Randy Foye added 19 points and three rebounds. Andray Blatche added 20 points and seven rebounds.
Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki led the game with 34 points and 9 rebounds, while Shawn Marion added 16 points and seven rebounds.

Key Stretch of the Game:
Leading, 77-76, at the start of the fourth quarter, the Wizards pushed the lead, 87-77, with 6:11 remaining in the game. The Mavericks wouldn’t come closer than seven points the rest of the way. Reserve guard Randy Foye scored eight points in the fourth quarter.

Next up:

The Washington Wizards will take on the Atlanta Hawks on the road Friday at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta. The Dallas Mavericks will visit the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday.
