Dr. Henrietta Hestick, Professor, Psychologist

(November 2, 2009) - Dr. Henrietta Hestick, Associate Professor of Baltimore City Community College and practicing Clinical Psychologist in Baltimore County, died on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after sustaining a massive stroke early Tuesday morning. She was married to Gershom Hestick for 45 years and they have three children: Mearys Hestick-Greene, Gersha Porter and Gershom Paul Hestick and eight grandchildren: NeCole, Kimani, Chelsea, Ariel, Jaelin, Autumn, Chloe and Dawson.

She was the third child and first daughter of eight children born to the late Reverends Walter and Sarah Eversley of Baltimore, MD who migrated from Guyana, South America. She leaves to mourn her grieving siblings: Rev. Dr. Walter Lloyd Eversley, Thomas Eversley, Father Walter V.L. Eversley, Eileen Batson, Elizabeth (Liz) Best, John Eversley and Josephine Lambert.

Dr. Hestick earned her Ph.D. and Ph.M. degrees in Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Psychology from Morgan State College in Baltimore, MD. She is a passionate and well- accomplished teacher of more than 35 years and has recently developed and taught a course on Parenting for the Baltimore City Community College. She has published two books on parenting and child care as well as authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles. She was mentor, motivator and professor par excellence to many college students at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Morgan, Towson and Coppin State Universities in Maryland where she served as faculty.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday and Friday, November 5th and 6th at 3 p.m. at the home of her brother, Father Walter Eversley, 214 Lambeth Rd, Baltimore, Maryland 21218. Dr. Hestick touched so many lives including mine. My name is Olivia Williams and she has always helped me overcome twist's and turns that life gives. I only hope to see one day in Heaven smiling and laughing like she did with me. I'll see u again Dr. Hestick.....someday!
