(November 5, 2009) - Boston Celtics reserve forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis may try his hand in the NFL. Davis recently expressed his passion for football, a sport he played during his high school years in Baton Rouge, La., where he split time between defensive lineman and running back.
“When I become an All-Star in the NBA, when I become a great player in the NBA, then I'll try football. One of my dreams has always been to play football,” Davis said in a statement posted on ESPN.com. “I definitely could have made it to the NFL.”
At 6-feet 9-inches tall and 290 pounds, Davis has the size of a typical NFL lineman. Known for his quick feet and strength, “Big Baby” would have a realistic shot of switching sports but both leagues would have to wait on that attempt.
Davis recently signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Celtics that will keep him in Boston until 2011.
