Italian-American Group Furious with Spike Lee

According to Blackamericaweb.com, the Italian Institute of America claims that film director Spike Lee has a history of misrepresenting Italians in his films.

Bill Dal Cerro, president of group, says Lee should rethink his racial attitudes in his own films before casting accusatory fingers at Clint Eastwood or any other filmmaker. Eastwood and Lee are currently involved in a dispute over what Lee considers Eastwood’s non-recognition of African Americans in military films.

“Spike Lee is very talented, but I sometimes wish he’d practice what he preaches,” Dal Cerro told the Hollywood Reporter. “His points about African Americans are well taken, but, ironically, he does the same thing to Italians in his films.”
The Italian Institute of American points to Lee’s films such as “Do The Right Thing” and “Jungle Fever” for their alleged unilateral representation of Italian Americans.
