Tyra Bank’s career has spanned from the middle-class America backdrop of Englewood, Calif. to the runways of Milan and Paris. Now, Banks, 34, is an Emmy winner for her popular talk show that focuses on issues ranging from religion to sexuality to health.
“They said that ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ would last two weeks and we are entering our fourth season this September,” Banks said, as she accepted her award. “I just have a message for everybody out there. When you have a dream, there are going to be so many people out there who tell you, 'you cannot do it, that you are not good enough.’ And I want you to tell them to ‘kiss your dimply, flat juicy, bootylicious, skinny, jiggly, saggy, fat a**.’”
Banks went on to thank Oprah Winfrey as an inspiration for her success in daytime television and called her “the queen.”
Other African-American Emmy winners included Kristoff St. John of CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” for “Outstanding Supporting Actor.”
